Presto Pasta Night #165

It's official - Presto Pasta Night Roundup #165 is up and fabulous!

Rachel, The Crispy Cook , our wonderful Presto Pasta Nights host this week, should have the roundup done very soon. So keep checking for it. Thanks Rachel, for hosting and thanks for all those absolutely fantastic pasta dishes. Very tempting, especially if one is doing South Beach Dieting - phase one. So I'm jealous, but fortunately, I'll know where to head when I'm done.

Next week, strange as it is...and quite the torture, given the above, but I'm hosting so send your fantastic pasta recipes to me - ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com before midnight Thursday and then check back at Once Upon a Feast for the roundup next Friday.

Perhaps I'll even share a pasta fantasy dish - with no carbs for my entry. Stay tuned. And thanks again everyone for making PPN special every single week.

In fact, Rachel already has her lasagna done and it looks wonderful. I, on the other hand, started doing South Beach Diet, phase one - so no pasta for me, this week or next...which won't stop me from living vicariously through all of yours.

Presto Pasta Night #163 The Roundup

When I told my Honey about the computer and internet gremlins who attacked The Comfy Cook and put a halt to this week's Presto Pasta Night, he reminded me that, since the first PPN back in March of 2007, we've never missed a week. Like the mailmen of old, neither sleet nor rain, nor moves from Toronto to Halifax, nor birth of grandbabies have stopped the weekly pasta roundups. So....here's a quicky version (I apologize for not doing my usual commentary, but I thought you'd all want to just dig in) and I hope that any of you who entered and don't see your tasty treat here will send me the link and I'll keep adding to the roll.

Daphne of More Than Words shared this Minced Meat Noodles.
Debbi of Debbi Does Dinner shared a delicious Cheese Ravioli with a Creamy Red Pepper Sauce.
Helen of Fuss Free Flavours brought this wonderful Spicy Lentil & Cabbage Spaghetti.
Joanne of Eats Well With Others found another great way to serve fiddleheads with her Mac 'n Cheese with Roasted Pork, goat cheese, rosemary & fiddleheads.
Kevin, my favorite Closet Cooking foodie also used fiddleheads in his Fiddlehead Carbonara.
Toni of New Veginnings made a lovely Lemon Pasta with Kale, Chickpeas & Tomatoes.
Jennifer of Cook, Eat, Play, Repeat - don't you just love the name! - shared this Fusilli Bucati with Tomato & Pancetta.
Reeni of Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice made a favorite of mine - Italian Wedding Soup.
Bellini Valli of More Thank Burnt Toast taught me something new with her Grilled Chicken & Pasta Fonduta with Tomatoes - check it out.
Abby who always Eats The Right Stuff, brought this to the table - Asparagus Orzotto.
Kirsten of From Kirsten's Kitchen to Yours took us to Sicily with this Broccoli & Pasta dish.
Haalo who Cooks Almost Anything brings a new meaning to mac 'n cheese with her Maccheroni & Smoked Provolina.
Tonya of A La Graham had me drooling with this Pasta and Smothered Onion Sauce.
Elizabeth of Gramma's Cookin' made a lovely Tomato Herb Pasta.
Claudia of Honey From Rock shared a "what not to do" but I think her Cannelloni alla Madonita turned out beautifully.
It seems like we had pasta lots this week, but this one was definitely a keeper - Spinach & Cheese Stuffed Pasta Shells.
Fortunately for the rest of us, Chaya, The Comfy Cook and this week's real host, made this delicious Mushroom Fettuccine with Cheese Sauce & Smoked Salmon early in the week before her computer and internet malfunctioned.
If I've missed anyone, please send me your link and I'll add it to the roundup.

Don't forget that Susan, The Well Seasoned Cook is hosting this. To share your fantastic dish - and I know you all have it in you...write it up, mention Presto Pasta Nights and The Well Seasoned Cook and then email your link to thewellseasonedcook (at) yahoo (dot)com and cc me ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com

Presto Pasta Night #163

Chaya, my favorite Comfy Cook, was our fantastic Presto Pasta Night host this week...which makes that time number three. Unfortunately the computer gremlins kicked in and after creating a wonderful roundup...well, let's just say she ended up with a blank screen and all that work gone to waste.

Here's her post and her suggestion of doing a double with next week's host Susan, The Well Seasoned Cook . Hopefully you're all okay with that...and if you're having pasta withdrawal, it's the perfect opportunity to visit any one of the older PPN Roundups.

And as for next week...start thinking about your entry. Just write, mention and link to Presto Pasta Night and The Well Seasoned Cook and then email thewellseasonedcook (at) yahoo (dot)com and cc me ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com

Super-sized Fusilli

First off...my apologies for not following up this past Friday with a link to last week's Presto Pasta Night Roundup...that was me hosting over at Once Upon a Feast. There were lots of tasty treats and I'm sure this week will be no exception. Chaya , Comfy Cook extraordinaire is hosting and I know her roundup will be fun - after all , it's her third time entertaining the rest of us.

You still have time to whip some pasta up and share with her. Just mention and link to her in your post and send your link to chayathecomfycook (at)yahoo (dot) com and cc me ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com
Although I've already made my pasta dish for the week - Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Pasta Shells, I couldn't resist these super-sized fusili called Fusilloni.
Around here we seem to prefer short pasta to long (although I'm a sucker for bucatini - those long thick pasta that's actually hollow for heavy meat sauces and thin & wispy pasta like vermicelli, spaghettini or angel hair with a delicate shrimp sauce). My Honey, likes things a little less messy (I do tend to wear a lot of sauce when I eat long noodles) and my little grandsons have their own reasons for short pasta...

Dov at 16 months, loves the tactile feel of using his hands. His older brother, Boaz at 3 and a half likes to use a fork and we all know that short pasta is easier to pick up. Shocking but true, I don't have a photo of either. Good thing they're coming for supper tonight and I'm making our tried and true, all time favorite recipe Grandma Hazel's Meat Sauce that she got from an Italian chef back in the 1940's and has passed it on to two generations since. So stay tuned for the photos. I'll be adding them to this post later.

And don't forget to send your pasta dishes to Chaya before tomorrow (Thursday, May 13th) so she can post them on the Friday Presto Pasta Night Roundup. Send your entry to chayathecomfycook (at)yahoo (dot) com and cc me ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com

The Latest Bon Appetit - Starring Pasta

Bon Appetit May 2010 Fabulous Pastas, Spring Desserts, Beer-braised Short Ribs (Best Recipes Italy/Spain/France) had a cover I could not resist - even at 7AM, and bleery eyed at the check out counter of Sobey's. After all, would I, could I pass up such a pretty pasta cover with promise of more inside?!

From the RSVP - Readers Favorite Restaurant Recipes there's Max's spaghetti & meatballs. No link on Bon Appetit's web site, but do a search for spaghetti with meatballs & marinara and look at the options!

The Fast Easy Fresh section has Pappardelle with Lamb Ragu that takes less than an hour! And the cover recipe that got my attention in the first place - Fettuccine with Peas, Asparagus and Pancetta (Note to self: I'm just missing the asparagus - must remember for the next trip to the grocery store)

There's an article on Puglia, at the heel of Italy that stars (for me, anyway) Orecchiette with Cauliflower, Anchovies & Fried Croutons .

Don't forget to share your favorite pasta with Presto Pasta Nights this week. Just write a post, mention and link to Presto Pasta Nights and email me your link - ruth (at) 4everykitchen (dot) com by Thursday and join the fun.
